ArcelorMittal, the world leader in steel and Brazil’s largest producer, is involved in one of the most modern architectural projects currently underway in the country. The company is a partner of the MRV Arena, which was officially inaugurated on April 15 and was built in the western region of Belo Horizonte (MG). The company is also a sponsor of the BH Festival, an event that will mark the stadium’s inauguration.
ArcelorMittal steel is present in the foundations, support structures, and large precast reinforced and prestressed concrete pieces of the structure, esplanade, and parking lot. The ready-welded reinforcement solution was used, with delivery of cut, bent, and assembled steel, according to project specifications, custom-made for the construction of the arena.
In addition to signing as ArcelorMittal: Official Steel of the MRV Arena, since the company’s products have been present since the beginning of the works, the steel producer will have the naming rights sector of the entire floor with suites and lounges of the most technological multipurpose arena in Latin America. “From large to small projects, we have been in Brazil for over 100 years. We are proud to participate in this project that will be a reference for the culture, events, and sports sectors in Minas Gerais and Brazil,” explains Jefferson De Paula, CEO of ArcelorMittal Brazil and CEO of Longs and Mining LATAM.
The partnership is also a cause for celebration for the space’s managers: “The MRV Arena is born to start a new era in football and events sector in Minas Gerais and with the ambition of being the most technological arena in Latin America. We are very pleased with this partnership with ArcelorMittal,” highlights Bruno Muzzi, CEO of MRV Arena.
The MRV Arena is a multi-use space with a capacity for 46,000 people, aligned with modern global concepts for large sports constructions. Since 2020, the stadium has been built on an area of 128,000 m² and will have 40 bars, 2,333 parking spaces, 80 suites, and an esplanade with 46,000 m².
The unprecedented partnership was signed in November 2021, consolidating ArcelorMittal as the first steel company to close naming rights sector in an arena and sponsor a festival of the magnitude of the BH Festival. “We will give our name to the second floor, the VIP area of suites in a five-year partnership with the MRV Arena. Together, we will celebrate in our home. After all, the origin of our operation was here, in Sabará. We are very proud to be in this venture that will bring several benefits and development opportunities for Minas Gerais,” affirms the CEO.
Largest Investor in Sports and Culture
ArcelorMittal maintains a strong relationship with sports and culture. It is the largest supporter of Sports in Minas Gerais and also of the Culture of the steel sector in the state, through incentive laws with programs carried out by the ArcelorMittal Foundation. “We will complete 35 years of our Foundation’s work in 2023, and we believe that, together, we can provide opportunities and continue investing.
